It’s one thing to be a nail tech, but it’s another thing to be a nail tech at The W Nail Bar! Top quality manicures and pedicures are kind of our thing (no harsh chemicals here!), and we’re all about a warm, comforting environment for our community. Turns out, people really love that, including our nail techs! We don’t mean to brag, but we love what we do here, and we can’t keep the secret any longer. That’s why we sat down with one of our amazing employees, Katy Harrison, to get the 411.

How long have you been working at The W? I’ve been at The W about a year and a half! It will be two years in August. What made you decide to join us? In other words, what sealed the deal to make you want to work here over any other nail salon? I was definitely looking for something different in the industry. Something that was going to take care of my health, as well as my client’s (as far as fumes, dust, etc.). I was also looking for some amazing people to work with that I can rely on and, quite frankly, weren’t going to be shady. Being a nail tech sounds like a dream. When did you know you wanted to be one? I actually didn’t know I wanted to be a nail tech! My mom pointed out that I had always been painting nails since a very young age. I thought I wanted to go to school for art, but then I decided that wasn’t a good idea because I was trying to get paid, know what I mean? So I decided to go to beauty school like my mom did when she was my age, and here I am! 4 years of nails later, and I’m still loving it. What do you love most about working here? What I love most about being at The W are the girls and the community. My co-workers never leave me with a dull day! Also, the community around the Short North is so awesome. I love being in the middle of it to really understand why people love it so much. Favorite nail color. Go! My favorite nail color is Be There in a Prosecco by OPI. What’s the most common question/nail dilemma your clients ask you? How do you respond? My most common question is ‘How do I grow my nails out?’ A lot of my clients have very strong nails, but they don’t know it because they haven’t been going to a nail tech that actually cares about the health of their nails. That’s where I come in! If you supplement with collagen, stay completely hydrated, and don’t peel your gel off. It is my responsibility to take care of your nails. And I always will, 100%. ------ A huge thank you to Katy for telling her W Nail Bar love story! Interested in becoming one of us? Learn more about joining The W as a nail tech here!
